October 2009 - SAP
Each October, SAP International encourages good corporate citizenship by giving their employees a day off to volunteer. This year, they directed their time and energy towards LINK-ages Society of Alberta, a non-profit organization which links youths and seniors. SAP employees left the warmth and comfort of their own offices, flexed their muscles as they trimmed old and overgrown trees and bushes, planted new ones, and installed outdoor lamps as a final touch.

July 17, 2009 – Trico Homes
Richard Gotfried, Vice President of Corporate Communications, as well as Ann Barnes, brought a team of enthusiastic employees to undertake an extensive Trico home improvement make-over for a lucky senior in Bowness. The Trico team painted the exterior of the house, planted shrubs and flowers, pruned trees, created a tree well, built a concrete patio on the yard, and installed a handrail for the front porch. What a multitalented team! The senior was more than satisfied with the results -- she was utterly ecstatic.
July 16, 2009 – ConocoPhillips
Volunteers from two different internal departments from Conoco Phillips came out to restore the west end of Fish Creek park by lending a hand with litter pick up. The event was based on the theme of low impact to the environment. A bus was rented for the event to lessen the amount of cars driven out to the site. More than 25 bags of garbage were collected by the volunteers. After the litter cleaning portion of the event an environmentally conscious lunch was provided for volunteers.
June 25, 2009 –Chevron Canada Resources
Marlene Mulligan, Public Relations Coordinator Policy, Government and Public Affairs, recruited a roster of 25 keen volunteers to paint a deserving senior´s heritage home in the Ramsay area.
June 23, 2009 – TransAlta Corporation
The team lead by Clare Sherrin, Investor Relations, consisting of devoted retirees and new grads, painted a house of a 91-year old senior in the Southwest.
June 16, 2009 – Petro-Canada
Western Canada Services Branch team was a group of 15 volunteers led by Michael Scott gathered who painted and spruced up the home of a senior in the Thorncliffe area.
June 2, 2009 - ConocoPhillips
More than 16 volunteers from Conoco Phillips came out to paint Mrs. Preston´s home in Forest Lawn. Media from the City of Calgary were there taking pictures for their local newsletter. This was the kick-off event for paint the town and the first city links painting project for the season.
May 30, 2009 – TELUS
26 employees mounted up and headed west to the outskirts of Cochrane to help the Universal Rehabilitation Service Agency prepare their summer camp for adult individuals living with a disability, or brain injury. The crew worked hard painting, planting, raking and cleaning.
March 26, 2009 – Future Shop
Employees read books to day-care children at the Calgary Public Library main branch. Eleven employees took 3 hours out of their day to read to 2 –3 children each. On average, the children got to enjoy listening to 4 – 5 books. Then they joined the children in a round of yogurt and juice boxes.

Thirty–four employees from the Finance Department gave their time and energy to paint the homes of two Calgary seniors, and make a difference in those seniors´ lives.

Continued to make employee volunteering a valued experience by holding two separate events with the Calgary Interfaith Food Bank. Both groups spent a few hours volunteering their time to help the Food Bank sort and box donated food items to be distributed later to those in need.
July 22, 2008 – Chevron Canada Resources
A group of 21 Chevron employees volunteered with Volunteer Calgary´s Paint the Town program. This enthusiastic group of volunteers gave of their time and energy to paint a senior´s home and make a difference in that senior´s life.
August 7, 2008 – Petro-Canada
The Legal Department from Petro-Canada volunteered with Volunteer Calgary´s Paint the Town program. This enthusiastic group of volunteers gave their time and energy to paint a senior´s home and make a difference in that senior´s life.
September 2008 - Trico Homes
30 employee volunteers spent a day in September participating in a weed pull at Fish Creek Park. The group learned about various types of weeds, why they are a threat and what can be done to control their spread.
September 2008 – TransAlta Corporation
The employee volunteers worked on an interior painting project at Simon House, a recovery housing system for men in need. This particular project was also a "My Backyard" project in support of the 10 Year Plan, an initiative supported by The Homeless Foundation.
September 2008 – ConocoPhillips
Two groups of 20 employees were involved in two different painting programs. The teams each spent the day painting a senior´s home with the City Links program. The program is a City of Calgary initiative, aimed at painting the homes of seniors who could not otherwise afford a house spruce up.
October 2008 – ConocoPhillips
60 employee volunteers took on the daunting task of a park clean up with The City of Calgary Urban Parks program. This group had a very successful day cleaning the park of unwanted debris, raking leaves, repainting and touching up barbeques, park benches and picnic tables. The group has since decided to adopt the park, Edworthy Park, and make it a priority to keep this city park beautiful.
October 2008 – SAP
The company was involved in a huge project with Youville Residence Society of Alberta, which serves women who have experienced violence, are coping with addictions and have mental health distress. They were in dire need of a renovation of one of their duplexes in order to open it up and house women. Youville stepped up to the plate and their employee volunteers spent a day painting the interior of the duplex while SAP funded a full carpet and linoleum renovation while providing funds for contracted work and a new fridge and stove.
Later the same week, SAP employees volunteered at the Calgary Interfaith Food Bank, working hard to sort and box food items. A few hours accomplished a tremendous amount - invaluable to those at the Food Bank.
October 22, 2008 – SAP
18 employees built computer desks that SAP donated for Aspen´s Building Futures program. After the desks were built, the employees set up the room and painted a welcoming sign for the participants of this program.
October 24, 2008 – SAP
10 employees went to the Calgary Interfaith Food Bank and sorted food for a ½ day. The Food Bank´;s objectives are to provide emergency food hampers to families and individuals in need and to provide bulk foods to agencies who provide services to the poor.
October 29, 2008 –SAP
The team finished off their 3 commitments by volunteering again with Aspen Family and Community Network, this time in their Heart of the North East program where 6 participants painted the office space for this program.
November 27, 2008 – HSBC
15 employees served over 200 meals to the men and women of the community and guests of the Salvation Army in the "Centre of Hope" kitchen. One of the employees was so impressed with the work that the Salvation Army does on a daily basis; he applied to become an individual volunteer and is helping out weekly.
December 2008 – Cohn & Wolfe
Another "My Backyard" project occurred in December with the company Cohn & Wolfe and the Mustard Seed. The employee volunteers from Cohn & Wolf spent a few hours working at The Seed feeding those in need and at risk of homelessness.
