Paint The Town

History

Volunteer Calgary’s original Employee Volunteer Program grew out of the vision of the Calgary Workplace Volunteer Council (CWVC). In 1998, the members of the CWVC started an annual spring-time volunteer project to foster their vision of employee volunteers making a positive impact in their community. The result of this vision was called Paint the Town a Volunteer Calgary program run in partnership with City Links. Since that time, employee volunteers have participated in more than 100 group volunteer projects.

From a program that started with volunteers painting and repairing the homes of seniors with limited incomes and physical limitations, Paint the Town has expanded its scope to include additional activities involving our more than 450 non-profit member organizations. Paint the Town projects are suitable to those companies with well established employee volunteer programs and companies that are just starting an employee volunteer program.

Paint the Town

This program aims to be accessible, on a year-round basis to businesses of any size or industry, in a variety of volunteer activities including the traditional City Links projects. The program is intended to encourage and support Calgary businesses as they integrate employee volunteerism into the values of their organizations.

Paint the Town provides an opportunity for your employee group to invest in the non-profit sector. This program supports employee volunteerism by providing fee-for-service project management to assist your company’s involvement in a volunteer activity, while building the capacity of non-profit member organizations. Volunteer Calgary works directly with non-profit organizations to manage a group volunteer opportunity from start to finish.

By working in partnership with Volunteer Calgary, your employees are part of a project designed to coach and mentor non-profits who want and need guidance when engaging groups of employee volunteers. Volunteer Calgary provides leadership to non-profits, helping them build their volunteer program by taking them through the process of developing, running and evaluating a successful group volunteer activity.
