VC's EV Program
Volunteer Calgary can help organize an employee volunteer project for your team. The following services are available depending on your need and/or budget.
Option 1 - Do-it-yourself
Cost: Free of Charge
Companies that have the internal resources in place to organize a volunteer project or event for their team may simply need some help generating project ideas. Consider these important questions when searching for a volunteer opportunity and then identify one that fits with your team's goals and reach out to that non-profit organization.
The Volunteer Calgary website is a great place to start browsing for ideal group volunteering opportunities. The easiest way to find opportunities specifically posted for employee groups is to do an 'Advanced Search' for volunteer opportunities with the suitability 'Employee Group'.
If you don't find anything that fits your needs, try contacting an organization you would like to help out directly to inquire about possible partnerships. More often than not, non-profit organizations welcome all types of help when it presents itself. The full list of Volunteer Calgary member organizations is available here.
Option #2 - Community Connect Projects
Cost: $1,500 - 2,000(sponsorship fee(depending on scope of project) + cost of supplies.
***The fee does not include food/refreshments or transportation for volunteers: any expenses of this sort that are incurred by Volunteer Calgary, will be invoiced to the company after the project is complete***
The Volunteer Calgary Corporate Citizenship Coordinator will work closely with you to develop a customized project for your team and provide project management services to ensure a meaningful, successful, and, most importantly, stress-free volunteer experience. All you need to do is provide a description of your team's goals and needs and the Corporate Citizenship Coordinator will provide you with project options based precisely on those.
Below are a few examples of employee volunteer projects that can be customized for your team:
Green Projects
- Take the team outdoors and work together toward a cleaner and greener Calgary. There are tons of volunteer activities geared toward helping the environment. Think: tree planting, park cleanup, trail maintenance, etc.
Essential Services
- Your team can make a significant impact in the community by giving their time, skills and energy to one of the many non-profit organizations in Calgary that provide vital community services in various areas such as education, disability, homelessness, emergency, among many others.
With over 400 member organizations there are a variety of volunteering possibilities for your Employee Volunteer group.
Option #3 – Paint the Town Projects
Cost: $2,500 sponsorship fee.
**All material expenses are included in the sponsorship fee including paint, brushes, building supplies etc. The fee does not include food/refreshments or transportation for volunteers: any expenses of this sort that are incurred by Volunteer Calgary, will be invoiced to the company after the project is complete***
Volunteer Calgary's original Employee Volunteer Program grew out of the vision of the Calgary Workplace Volunteer Council (CWVC). In 1998, the members of the CWVC started an annual spring-time volunteer project to foster their vision of employee volunteers making a positive impact in their community. The result of this vision was called "Paint the Town" – a Volunteer Calgary program run in partnership with CityLinks.
This program supports employee volunteerism by providing fee-for-service project sponsorship to assist your company's involvement in a Paint the Town project.
What does this project look like?
During the summer months, your employee team (approximately 20 volunteers) can take part in the Paint the Town Project and make a difference in the life of a senior in our community.
Find out more about the Paint the Town projects here. (should link to Paint the Town Page)
For more information about any of these options, please contact the Coordinator, Corporate Citizenship Janet Kerrigan at jkerrigan@volunteercalgary.ab.ca or 403-231-1428.
