Is CSL right for your organization?

Here are some questions to ask when you consider preparing your CSL proposal:

  • Compatibility – Is the course offering a good fit for our organizational need?
  • Scope – Can we chunk our "need" into a project that can be completed in a short academic term (approx 10-12 weeks) by students working only part-time (5-8 hours/week/student)
  • Preparation - Do we understand exactly what our goals are around this project and how that fits with the course offering and the student learning goals?
  • Organizational Capacity – Do we have the organizational time, capacity and experience to organize, supervise, support and evaluate a CSL project?
  • Supervision and Communication – Do we have a person who has the time and skills to supervise and support a group of students and communicate effectively with all of the stakeholders?
  • Evaluation – Do we have the capacity, and the will, to take the time to assess and reflect on the CSL process and offer and accept feedback to improve the experience for all stakeholders?

If you have any questions, or concerns, please contact Ralamy Kneeshaw, Coordinator Community and Service Learning at Volunteer Calgary 403-231-1429. Thank you for your interest!
