As part of Cenovus's ongoing commitment to community investment and involvement, we support and encourage our employees in both their charitable giving and volunteering activities. We believe in working with the people who inspire, lend a hand and make communities strong - Community Connect successfully engaged Cenovus staff in a project that aligned with one of our Community Investment focus areas and partners.

Volunteers have long been the cornerstones of our communities whether it's in helping to keep our schools running, ensuring appropriate transportation is available for everyone or developing and maintaining our recreation areas. These volunteers roles are still needed. At Chevron we understand that we have a responsibility to build the capacity of the communities we live and work in. Increasing volunteer engagement, starting with ourselves, is one of the many ways we invest in our communities. In addition to that, cross pollinating and reducing silos across sectors and organizations is becoming increasingly important to our communities. This can and will be accelerated through meaningful and strategic volunteer engagements.

At ConocoPhillips (CPC) we are an active member of the communities where we work and live. We believe in strengthening our community through the contribution of time, money and services. Our employee volunteers are the driving force behind CPC's community investment initiatives and they help us realize our goal of enriching lives and strengthening communities. By joining forces with Volunteer Calgary we can execute strategic team building volunteer activities where our employees can take a dynamic role in making a difference in our communities.

The Technical Services department at Inter Pipeline Fund chose Volunteer Calgary to coordinate a team building event for us because we felt that there was great benefit to us personally to give something back to the community while having fun and getting to know each other better. I believe that each individual gave their best effort to build the playground and was proud of their contribution. Volunteer Calgary coordinated the logistics that made it easy for us to participate and we will consider partnering with Volunteer Calgary for another project in the future.

Penn West is proud to support corporate volunteering through its Volunteer Impact Program and recognizes the importance of maintaining a strong commitment to community. Penn West has chosen to partner with Volunteer Calgary to increase our knowledge and understanding of volunteer initiatives and for support in executing various volunteer activities throughout the year.

SAP's corporate social responsibility program in Canada supports a wide range of projects and activities - from corporate giving and education programs to employee volunteerism. The program demonstrates how incorporating community stakeholders into our business network not only supports corporate goals and responsibility, but also encourages nonprofit organizations to promote social change in a positive and sustainable way.

In the past we have done golf tournaments as social events in the late summer and while those are fun at the end of the day you spend 5 hours in a golf cart with only three other people. By volunteering as a group we get to work towards a common goal, we get to be together as a large group and the formality and structure of the office is left behind. Everyone is on the same level and the sense of accomplishment is huge. We started with this one as a way to get our feet wet as a company in terms of volunteering and we hope to do more. Working with Janet at Volunteer Calgary was a great experience as she was able to source out the perfect activity for our staff in rather short notice.

At TransCanada 'Community Spirit' is about our employees' vision of how they want to be engaged in their local, national and global community. It's about their passion for volunteering and giving to causes important to them. Our partnership with Volunteer Calgary is an opportunity for us to achieve that while bringing together employees, contractors and leaders to collaborate on projects that cross traditional department borders. Through this partnership we are increasing awareness of community resources, we are building asset-based communities and creating engaged citizens. At TransCanada, our employees are the difference!

At Maillot Homes we believe it's very important to give back to our community by providing funding and volunteer support for initiatives like Paint the Town. We can't think of a more worthwhile cause than to help paint and repair the homes of seniors in Calgary who could use a helping hand.
