Calgary Organization will be unique in Non-Profit Sector
Calgary, AB (Nov 1, 2011) Volunteer Calgary and CentrePoint Non-Profit Management, today announced organizational changes that will create a unique capacity building organization to better serve the community and the non-profit sector.
Volunteer Calgary will officially assume delivery of all programs and services currently offered by CentrePoint effective January 1, 2012. This is a program and service acquisition; once the acquisition process is completed, CentrePoint will cease operations.
Volunteer Calgary and CentrePoint are working together on the transformation of a volunteer centre and centre for non-profit management into a new, hybrid organization uniquely positioned to build the effectiveness of local non-profit organizations to deliver service to the community.
The Volunteer Calgary Board of Directors are enthusiastic about this transformational change for Volunteer Calgary as it directly supports the existing vision of ‘People with passion and purpose leading the way to vibrant communities.’
“This change will increase the scope and impact of non-profit sector capacity building in Calgary and across the province while reducing the cost of the infrastructure to provide these services,” according to Jamie Niessen, President and CEO of Volunteer Calgary.
“This change is about providing better support to the sector, “ says Barb Ferguson, Chief Executive Officer for CentrePoint Non-Profit Management. “It is a positive change that will broaden the accessibility of capacity building programs and services.”
Volunteer Calgary, CentrePoint and their major funders have been and will continue to work diligently to ensure the current level of service from both organizations is maintained during the transition. Current Volunteer Calgary member organizations and CentrePoint clients can expect the organization to continue delivering its services as a volunteer centre and can look forward to additional, non-profit management services to be made available through Volunteer Calgary.
